Dont Quote Me On That...

"The most memorable people in your life that love you when you aren't very lovable." -Anonymous

Famous First and Last Lines

"A screaming comes across the sky."
The author, Thomas Pynchon was born in 1937 and is currently still alive today he attended Cornell college and published the novel Gravity's Rainbow, where this quote is from, in 1973.
Gravity's Rainbow takes place at the end of World War II when V-2 bombs start falling on London and some British Intelligence members begin to notice that Lieutenant Slothrop of the United States Army has many sexual encounters that directly correspond to a map they found of the city showing the pinpoints of these encounters. Slothrop then begins a quest around post-war Europe. I do not personally think that this would be a book I would enjoy reading. I am sure it is a phenomenal piece of literature but most novels surrounding the War do not tend to hold my interest.

"In your rocking-chair, by your window dreaming, shall your long, alone. In your rocking-chair, by your window, shall you dream such happiness as you may never feel."
This quote is from the novel Sister Carrie which was written by Theodore Dreiser published in 1900. This novel is about a girl named Carrie who moves to Chicago in hopes of leaving the midwest behind. Once she arrives she  meets a man that she eventually moves in with, then almost cheats on with a married man. That married man makes an appearance later in the novel as Carrie's love interest again. Towards the end of the novel Carrie becomes a Broadway star but things don't end up so well for her lover. This book sounds like it would peak my interest. It does sound like a slow moving book but I would definitely like to try and read it.

Reading Questions
Image result for indie books
1. When I read I need to be in a very quiet room, which is why I do not read very often. I also prefer to be drinking something warm from a printed mug while wrapped in a caccoon of fluffy blankets. It also helps if it is a rainy day and I don't have any plans or responsibilities for the day.

6. My first reading teacher was Ms. Cindy that I had in preschool. I remember because I have very vivid memories of meeting my best friend in my reading group during circle time. She also made reading fun and we would get a piece of candy at the end of reading groups if we were on task.

7. The first book I remember reading is Green Eggs and Ham, which definitely sounds cliche but it is the first book that I remember. I honestly think that this book made an impression on me because in kindergarten after we read that book in the library we went back to class and had green eggs and ham for lunch and I thought that was the best thing in the world.

8. My favorite book is The Catcher in the Rye. I just love this book because it is the first book that had I main character I could really relate to and made me feel more normal. I also love Gone Girl just because it is the most recent book I read that really kept me hanging on every word and I honestly did not put it down and read for four hours straight and it is the only time I've ever done that.

11. When I write I always envision the audience I am writing for. I think there is a very select group that would enjoy my writing style just because my writing is very awkwardly flowing. I think that it is more geared towards people my age or with my mindset. I tend to write what I'm feeling and most times that is not affected by the audience I am writing for. However sometimes I am interested in writing about some topics that would possibly be considered more "dark" that I steer away from when writing for an audience.

 At Least You Have Time
I don’t know why the sun never shines on those who need it most.
I don’t know why when it rains it pours.
I don’t know why loved ones are taken from us too soon.
I don’t know why the ones we love most choose to break our hearts.
I don’t know why sometimes pain settles in the cracks of your heart and take permanent residence there.

But I do know that in the darkest of times the sun will rise.
I do know that the storm will end.
I do know that everything happens for a reason.
I do know that heartache brings other relationships closer together.
I do know that the most painful nights bring the brightest days and the pain in your heart will subside.
When you have nothing else at least you have time.

Dream Threads
We just sit there in silence with only the calm steady sound of breathing to fill the air. A peaceful serenity sat within the three of us as we shared a silent moment I knew I wouldn’t forget. The old me was gone and for good. I wouldn’t touch another drop of alcohol for the rest of my life. For years I sought happiness in the saddest of places. I never thought I had a problem until I came out on the other side. I went from a lonely empty room to one filled with happiness and friends and family that I thought had left me for good.  I couldn’t help but think of how much I’ve changed from the day I started this journey.  The bad times are put behind me now I finally could start to live a better life as a better me. I can get a job, get married, maybe even have kids one day, all because I got better. Maybe I will become what some family members always wanted me to be.

Dream Marks on My Pillow
pillow.jpg

The waves of emotion wash over me, engulfing me like the violent ocean waves during a storm. I toss and I turn dreaming of the simple times. A calming, beautiful, tranquility stained these dreams. I dream of our first date, the first time you told me you loved me,the way you made me feel at peace with a simple glance from across the room. Suddenly the worst feeling overcomes me and I begin to drift away from the tranquil dreaming state and begin to feel like I’m drowning, drifting farther and farther away into a nightmare. I see you walking away, leaving me all alone. I see the person who once held my heart, rip it apart. These dreams are stained with an unsettling, miserable, turbulence. I am jolted awake and look over to the other side of the bed and reach out for my phone longing to call for you to comfort me but you are not there. No matter how much time passes your presence still lingers in my dreams. The once peaceful rainfall that filled my dreams turned into a hurricane because you are gone. The only traces of you are the dream marks on my pillow.

If I Were In Charge of the World

If I were in charge of the world
 I'd cancel flu season, homework,
headaches, running late and also research papers.

If I were in charge of the world
 there'd be later nights,longer weekends,
and endless sunsets over towns that never sleep.

If I were in charge of the world
you wouldn't have sadness.
You wouldn't have pain.
You wouldn't have a bad report card
Or "You're just not good enough."
You wouldn't even have failure

If I were in charge of the world
a heaping bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream
would be a vegetable.
All year it would be seventy-five degrees (even when it snows.)
and a person who sometimes forget to make her bed before school
and sometimes forgot to eat a meal
would still be allowed to be
in charge of the world.
